| Q | | What is the Army truck and deuce that I see listed in the web site and Calendar of Events?
|
 |
| A | | Pack 83 has access to a genuine Army troop transport truck, and is owned and operated by Pack 83's he Pack Leader, Jim Newton.
The truck is a 1971 Kaiser Jeep M35A2, and can carry 35 people. There are seat belts for all positions.
The "deuce and a half", as it is known (because it can carry two and a half tons of cargo) can be outfitted with a canvas cover or open-air, depending on weather and the event it is being used for.
The truck is covered by full insurance that exceeds the requirements of the Boy Scouts of America.
At least two adults are always present in the back of the deuce to watch over the boys.
Some parents are a little nervous about allowing their Cub Scout to ride in the deuce, but they quickly realize that it is quite safe and makes for a lifetime memory for the boy.
